Collect at least 5 organic objects which have interesting surface textures. Bring these in a plastic bag with your name on it for next week.

This project looks at the role of an Illustrator and the focus artist is Sara Fanelli. Her work can seen at this website here www.sarafanelli.com. Homework will be set every 2 weeks and due the following week when set. All homework is directly linked to your overall level.

Kimono Project:
Natural Forms
Term 1
You should be spending at least 30 minutes on each homework. It is very important that you work hard in producing your homework, as this will have an impact on your overall Level. If you do not have any fruit or vegetables then you can try to find some images on the Internet and draw from those.
Homework 2: Find a single fruit or vegetable and place a lamp next to it to produce shadows and highlights. Draw the object and add tones using your cross-hatching techniques you have learnt. Don’t worry if you don’t have a lamp, try sitting next to a window or similar place to produce shadows and highlights. watch The video to help you.
Homework 3: This is a 6 part colour wheel. You will be using this in lessons to help with colour theory at a later date.
Your homework task is to create a 6 part colour wheel using any materials you like. Here are some examples below. Remember this has to go into your sketchbook so try to keep it as flat as possible.

an image of a Kimono and draw part of the design from
it. Add colour or note colours used.

a printing process where wax is applied using Tjantings
to
material. This makes the material
resistant when ink is applied. The
process originally comes from Indonesia.
Homework 6: Go to the V and A website www.vam.ac.uk and search for Kimono: Decoration, Symbols & Motifs. You have to create an 2 A5 facts posters, including both images and at least 10 facts about Kimono.
Homework 7: Collect images of objects or things you want to add to your own Kimono design in class.
Homework 8: Design a Kimono that represents you. You can add objects and symbols that represent your life. You can use any medium from paint to collage.
