UNIT 2:  I, me, mine 

GCSE Art exam 10 hours Thursday 6th November & Friday 7th November all day in G103 & G104

HOMEWORK TASK 1 (Scroll down for each homework).

Collect 4 large images by the artist you have chosen.
They must be at least A5 size.  (2 images per A4 side).  Deadline is Tuesday evening.
Send these to my email address.

Artists you could choose from are.
Don't forget you need the title, the date it was made and what medium it was made with.

HOMEWORK TASK 2

Find relevant contextual information of your chosen artist.  Looking for what influenced their work.

TIP: Use keywords such as influence, inspired, reasons behind work, artist statement in your google search…

Also, use sites such as http://www.tate.org.uk/ and Wikipedia

Contemporary artists will probably have have their own web page.

Some questions to guide you.

Context

This refers to how the work relates to a particular time, place, culture and society in which it was produced.

• When was it made? Where was it made? Who made it?
• Who was the work made for?
• What do you know about the artist?
• How does the work relate to other art of the time?
• Does the work relate to the social or political history of the time?
• Can you link it to other arts of the period, such as film, music or literature?
• Does the work relate to other areas of knowledge, such as science or geography?
